Kiwi-Samoan heavyweight boxing contender Joseph Parker is now just one win away from getting a mandatory world title shot against the winner of the Chris Martin vs Anthony Joshua title fight in April.
The IBF this week ordered Parker (18-0, 16 KOs), 24, and Carlos Takam (33-2-1, 25 KOs), 35, of France, the organization’s leading available contenders, to meet in a title elimination bout.
According to Duco Events, Parker’s promoter, both fighters have agreed to participate in negotiations to make the bout. They have about three weeks to make a deal or a purse bid will be ordered.
Because neither fighter is permitted to fight between now and the eliminator, Parker, who was scheduled to go on April 17, had that bout scrapped. Duco Events said it hopes to put on Parker-Takam in New Zealand in May. READ MORE.
