Pro wrestling fans around New Zealand are excited after hearing the WWE is coming to town. The WWE Live tour is happening on August 10 at Vector Arena in Auckland and is expected to attract a massive and enthusiastic crowd. Fans are looking forward to seeing their fave ‘superstars and divas’ in action, including Samoan Nesian wrestling warrior Roman Reigns along with Sheamus, Kevin Owens and Ryback. This debut play by Hawaiian playwright Kiki presents a voice of a community not often heard from in the Nesian world or even in the Pacific theatre world – that of the Nesian lesbian voice. CREATIVE NEW ZEALAND MEDIA RELEASE Artist in Residence opportunity at National University of Samoa 2016 Creative New Zealand, in partnership with the National University of Samoa, is offering a three month artist residency in Apia, Samoa, in 2016. The annual residency, established in 2006, celebrates its tenth anniversary this year. The residency offers New Zealand Pasifika artists the opportunity to develop their potential, skills and practice. It provides up to $15,000 for an artist’s stipend including accommodation and travel costs. The residency will run during August to October 2016. It is open to established mid-career and senior Pasifika artists who are resident in New Zealand. Residency support Creative New Zealand will offer the selected artist financial and other support of: a total stipend of NZ$10,000 for three months up to NZ$2,000 towards travel costs; including one return airfare – New Zealand to Apia, Samoa (as well as internal New Zealand flights as required) and insurance up to NZ$3,000 (being no more than NZ$1,000 per month for three months) towards the costs of accommodation in Samoa for the resident an orientation /briefing on the residency including local customs and conditions. Joseph Parker is now a top-ranked world title contender for the first time. The 24-year-old Kiwi-Samoan’s trainer Kevin Barry says his young charge was now rated No 1 with the ‪#‎WBO‬.
